A Personal Journey
I have been working as a Live-in Carer for over 10 years. Caring for the vulnerable and aged is something that I have loved and been very passionate about. Since a very young age I just loved helping out my elderly grandmother and family members in their daily lives. Just to see their grateful smiles would always melt me. I just knew that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life and I’ve loved every minute of it.
I have found that working as a Live-in Carer for private clients is a very rewarding vocation. I enjoy building relationships with both the client and their relatives. This ensures that the care I provide is tailored to the client’s needs enabling them to live as independently as possible in their own homes while still being able to carry on with their normal routines.
During my time as a Live-in Carer I have met some fantastic Carers who like myself are very passionate and committed to making their client’s lives as happy and fulfilling as possible during their placement. However I have also felt that there are certain aspects of some areas of the Care Sector that can work a little better for both the Client and the Carer.
This is where Cariad Care Services had it’s beginnings. I listened to what my Clients and fellow Carers were saying about what was important to them and how they felt things could run more smoothly whilst still maintaining the highest standard of care.
So I decided that I would look at setting up my own family run agency, where I could rectify some of the areas that I felt would work better, with my background in management and recruitment and coming from a family of care workers from nurses, carers, trainers and care managers between us we have a wealth of experience and knowledge within the care sector.
I believe that for a placement to work for both the Client and the Carer then there has to be mutual respect, empathy and of course a great deal of humour. This is why I feel that matching the right Carer with the Client’s personality and needs will produce a happier working and caring relationship.
